The clearest publicly documented late-game split in Photomaly is the pixel-faced agent route:
| What you do | Documented outcome | Achievement | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Complete the agent’s daily anomaly-photo and print requests | The community route reaches a reward/family outcome on Day 6 | Family Matters — “Earn your reward.” | Achievement text reported; route and timing reported |
| Leave the agent’s requests incomplete | The player’s memory is erased and the run returns to Day 1 | Reset Protocol | Outcome text reported; route choice reported |
“Family Matters” is the published achievement title, but the exact meaning of “family” has not been explained by the developer in the sources checked here. Reset Protocol more directly describes a loop: the player loses their memory and returns to Day 1. That is the observable outcome—not a claim about the story’s official theme.
The available community walkthrough reaches the decisive agent payoff on Day 6. That makes Day 6 the useful planning target for this route. It does not prove that every playthrough, side event, or undiscovered ending always has the same length.
The only switch supported by the route evidence is whether you consistently finish the pixel-faced agent’s requests.
The strongest safe statement is the achievement’s short requirement: earn your reward. A community walkthrough connects that reward to completing the agent’s requests and calls the result the family outcome. Public evidence does not establish the exact symbolism, the agent’s full motive, or a developer-confirmed “good ending” label.
If you are testing this route, record whether every agent request was accepted, completed, and delivered before Day 6. That is more useful evidence than interpreting the final scene from memory.
The hidden achievement text says the player’s memory is erased and they return to Day 1. The community route associates this with leaving the agent’s requests incomplete. It is reasonable to describe the result as a reset or loop because the achievement says the run returns to Day 1; any broader theory about who controls the loop remains interpretation.
